The reaction to fire is characteristics of the products that defines the contribution to the development of the fire. The main characteristics which are measured in the tests are:
- released energy during combustion;
- burning;
- flaming particles;
- weight loss;
- smoke removal;
- burned length;
- rate of spread of combustion.
The laboratory performs tests on:
- building products;
- plastics;
- textile.
The classes of reaction to fire are: A1, A2, B, C, D, E and F. Depending on the specific purpose of the products, the following index are added: fl - floor coverings; L-pipes; ca- cables; roof- roof coverings. The products are also evaluated for the emission of smoke (s1, s2, s3) and the presence of flaming particles (d0, d1 and d2).
